Batteries & Toy Care

When buying an adult toy, it’s good to know the best way to look after them so that they not only last as long as possible, but so they are also working correctly. We want you to get the most life out of your toys, so here are our recommendations on how to get the best life span and pleasure.

All products that have motors are checked prior to delivery. We ensure these are checked to save you needing to return any items, and so you know you can purchase without worry. This means that you may sometimes get an item that the packaging has been cut opened, and this is why. It’s been checked before being sent out for your peace of mind.

When you receive your order, we recommend you order batteries when purchasing your toy, its always good to put batteries in and get familiar with the toy and the buttons. This is also the ideal time to be sure you know how to insert the batteries. Some toys do need the batteries to be positioned in a certain way, particularly those that take 3 or more. By doing this before you want to use your new toy, you won’t lose the mood at a critical time when you want to try your new toy for the first time! If your toy is not working, ensure you have new batteries, old batteries may not have enough charge left in them to run the motor.

The use of Alkaline batteries is the most common cause of burnt out motors in vibrators. Alkaline batteries such as Duracell, Energizer, Ni-Cad and some rechargeable types are NOT SUITABLE for use in adult toys. These batteries are too strong, and you risk burning out the motor in your new toys much faster than with other batteries. If you feel that your batteries in the toy are not strong enough after a few uses, you can still use them safely in other general items, so they will never go to waste. We suggest you use new batteries in your toys and then use them in other items as they become less powerful.

When you go to use your new toy for the first time we recommend you clean it first. There are toy cleaners on the market that you can buy if you wish, although we think you know your body the best and know what can cause any irritation. Stick with what works for you. If you need the extra sterilization then purchase a toy cleaner, if you are less likely to find irritation from soaps, then something like an anti-bacterial soap or hand wash can do the trick. Always remove batteries and clean your toys after use and store in a clean place.

For hygiene reasons we highly recommend that toys are not shared. If toys are used from the anus to the vagina or near the penis, the use of a condom for any anal play is recommended. This helps keep the toy hygienic for future vaginal or penis use and to avoid any risks of infection.

When cleaning toys be sure to know if the toy is waterproof or not. Waterproof toys are safe to be submerged and great for use in the bath or shower. Waterproof toys will have a washer in the battery compartment to help seal the area so the water does not get in, if the washer is lost, damaged or split, then the toy will not be waterproof any longer. Ensure waterproof toys are SEALED TIGHTLY when submerged in water. If your toy is not waterproof ensure no water is near the battery compartment when cleaning.

Always use the correct Lubricant with your toys. Baby Oil and Vaseline are NOT SUITABLE to be used with adult toys and can cause damage to latex items including condoms. Water based or silicone lubricants are recommended with all adult products. DO NOT use silicone lubricant with silicone toys or products, this will cause deterioration over time and your toy will not be hygienic. Silicone lubricant is safe to use with condoms.

Loveclone and Cyberskin toys and other similar materials require talc to be used to maintain their lifelike texture. After washing your toy, pat dry or allow your toy to air dry completely and then coat all surfaces with unscented talc. Cornflour can also be a suitable substitute.

Store your toys in a dry discrete place. There are lockable toy chests available from some adult shops. You can also use a small overnight suitcase to store your toys and lock with a padlock if you need. Toys with cords to remotes should be stored carefully so as not to get tangled with other items. Store batteries away from your toys in case any batteries leak, to avoid your toys being damaged. The more care you take looking after your toys, the longer they will last. Eventually saving you money by not having to replace them prematurely.

In short:

  • Wash your toy before and after use.
  • Do not leave batteries in your toys, remove after use.
  • ONLY use non-alkaline batteries in toys.
  • Do not use silicone lubricants with silicone toys.
  • Do not put toys near water unless they are waterproof specific.
  • Store your toys with care in a dry safe place.
